Abaco Facts
Abaco is located in the Bahamas, just 200 nautical miles east of Miami and 162 nautical miles from West Palm Beach. Marsh Harbour, a small community but the business hub of Abaco, with major international banks, law firms, audit firms, and modern convenient duty-free shopping. There is world wide direct distance dialing telephone and fax service, and regularly scheduled sea freight service to nd from Florida and Nassau (the capital of the Bahamas). Multiple flights daily between Marsh Harbour and Miami, West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and Nassau. First class marinas and marine support services abound in Marsh Harbour. Several boat rental companies are based in Marsh Harbour at daily and weekly rates.

The native language of the islands is English. Passports are required for entry into the country.

The U.S. dollar is accepted at par with the Bahamian dollar at all shops and restaurants.

The Club accepts Visa and Master Card, many restaurants and stores will accept major credit cards and travellers checks.

And for the boaters- just stroll 12 feet down your walkway, jump on your boat and take off to beaches, snorkel reefs and visit outer cays with picturesque villages, cruise to gourmet restaurants just ten minutes away for relaxing dinners, toss more ice in your cooler and head across the sea of Abaco to check out the dancing at waterfront clubs.

Fishing off the Abaco Cays is legendary. Use your own boat or charter local fishing guides who will lead you to the best locations. Fish the shallows for the wily bonefish, toss a line over for grouper or snapper, troll for wahoo, mahi mahi, tuna and marlin, then pull on your diving mask and grab your spear for lobster...we have big juicy ones here!

Tournament Fishing
Hundreds of people from the U.S.A. leave their boats at Boat Harbour Marina for long periods, flying back to Abaco for weekends or longer many times a year for the thrill of big game fishing.

The annual fun-filled Billfish Ball attracts repeat entrants year after year at Boat Harbour, and the catch has always challenged the records.

Two of the Bahamas Billfish Tournaments are held at Boat Harbour, and in recent years have come up with the excitement of record and near record catches. Three of the five events that make up this tournament are located in Abaco.

The prestigious Bertram-Hatteras Shootout Tournament is now held at the Resort each May.
